Literature Text

Paddy groaned, squeezing his eyes tighter shut, “Great, just great. Now what’s to do about him?” Patricia waved toward Paddy.

Tennessee flicked his hat brim, “I’d say your debt’s repaid, Miss. You broke the fella out of jail, and saved his sorry tail end,” he told her honestly, “You can either leave him here, or wait ‘till he’s up.”

Patricia scratched the back of her head, “What’s this about silver goods you were speakin’ of?” she asked suddenly.

“Oh no Miss,” Tennessee shook his hands at her, “You’re NOT tagging along.”

“Well,” Patricia countered, “Paddy must’ve heard the same conversation,” she tapped her temple a few times, “I’m sure he can recall once he’s up, We’ll be there quicker than flies on honey.”

Tennessee snorted, “Paddy won’t be up until I’m halfway back, He don’t worry me none.”

Patricia raised an eyebrow, “Do I?” she asked, dropping her reins to get closer to Tennessee.

Tennessee took a step back, only to bump into his horse, “You? Course not…”

“Are you sure?” Patricia batted her eyelashes and leaned on Tennessee’s chest, “A gal that isn’t afraid of the greatest thief the west has to offer? I’d be concerned.”

Tennessee tugged at his handkerchief collar nervously, “I guess…. You can come along,” he finally said as Patricia got close enough he could feel her breath over his face. She smelled minty.

Patricia pulled back, smiling, “Then what’re we waiting for?” Not a hint of her innocent voice left from the tease.

With a sigh, Tennessee shook his head, “It’s only because you have a horse, more saddle space, more silver comin’ out of that plantation.”

“Ah-huh,” Patricia pulled a strap tighter on her saddle, “It’s your story to believe.”

Paddy groaned again, trying to mumble, “The guy could die out here if we leave him like this,” Tennessee watched the goat struggle in the dirt.

Patricia followed his gaze, “He’s a fool, Leave him there.”

Tennessee kneeled beside Paddy and placed a hand on his shoulder, “We have nearly 20 miles to travel, so,” he stood back up, “We’ll leave him with a few supplies, It’s only polite.” He pulled the straps of his bag over his shoulders and pulled out a pack of dried meat and a canteen. He shook the canteen, listened for the water and decided it was only half full. He leaned the meat over the canteen to shade the water, and found a stick.

In the dirt, he drew a simple face and, as his mother always had done, left a calling card. The little raccoon symbol had a simple smoking gun behind it. Over the years, he had perfected his drawing and had come to like it.

Patricia watched him make the stick dance across the dirt, “You know, the traditional route would be to remain inconspicuous as a thief. You do know that right?” she asked, glancing at him.

Tennessee leaned the stick over his shoulder, inspecting his work, “I’m not real big on secrets, what’s the fun in that?”

Paddy woke in the dark of night, but the moon kept it from being a black forest of wilderness. He sat up, rubbing his head in pain, and cursing in his Irish accent. As he stood to walk towards a town, he nearly tripped over the canteen left for him. He bent down to pick the food and drink up, and  noticed a little raccoon staring up at him from the dirt.

Paddy scoffed. Tennessee ‘Kid’ Cooper seemed to love the attention.
A West Worth Saving: Chapter 6-Minty

Patricia knows she can seduce Tennie. He's clearly attracted to her.
Though, she seems to have mixed feelings about Paddy.

I'll leave you to your deductions.

Uh-oh, looks like Patricia is gonna give Tennie a run for his money, she seems very able to hold her own, which I love.
I also really like how you incorporated the calling card as well and with Tennessee explaining how it's no fun unless you sign your work, that was a very nice touch my friend.
